Graphics Drivers Issues

Caution

If your game is crashing during Alt-Tab then try switching the fullscreen mode in the MTA settings menu Settings > Advanced > Fullscreen mode.

You should try using either Borderless window or Borderless keep res in that case.

1. Download and install the legacy DirectX runtime.

   DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

   Installer for runtime libraries from the legacy DirectX SDK

2. Install the latest release of Multi Theft Auto.

   Windows 10 & 11

   Download for the latest release of Microsoft Windows

   Windows 7 & 8.x

   Download for older releases of Microsoft Windows

3. Update your graphic card drivers.

   NVIDIA

   Download latest drivers for NVIDIA GPUs

   AMD

   Download latest drivers for AMD GPUs

4. If you have a notebook/laptop, visit the manufacturer’s website and download the most recent drivers for your device, including the latest graphics driver.

   • Acer
   • ASUS
   • Toshiba

5. Close third-party programs that may interfere with the game, for example:

   • Evolve
   • RivaTuner
   • MSI Afterburner

6. Try to run Multi Theft Auto again.

Note

Consider restarting your computer after these installations for good measure, if MTA still fails to launch.
